Popular Kitchen Trends Throughout Cincinnati

In the last year we have seen several bath and kitchen trends evolving throughout Cincinnati. Designers and contractors have reported these trends to be some of the most popular for the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012.

Popular Kitchen Trends:

1. Wine Storage: One trend on the upswing is the request for unchilled wine storage in kitchens. From racks to cabinets, homeowners are making room in their kitchens for wine. This is a small change that can increase the value of your home as well as create a stylish storage unit for your favorite wines.
2. Dark Finishes: Toward the end of 2011, dark finishes became one of the most requested type of kitchen remodeling finishes. This overtook medium natural, glazed and white painted finishes. Dark finishes give any room a more cozy and homey feel.
3. Trash Solutions: 89% of designers surveyed included trash or recycling pullouts in their kitchen remodeling designs in the final quarter of 2010, which continued to be popular throughout the year of 2011 and in to 2012. Garbage disposal installation rose from 75% to 86%. Because of the country’s shift into eco friendly solutions many of these disposal systems include trash compactors and recycling solutions.
4. Refrigerators Design: Designers have had the most requests for French door refrigerators. The least requested style of refrigerators is freezer-top models. The French doors allow you to utilize all of the refrigerator space and organize more efficiently. One other interesting trend in this category to report is the dramatic decline in the request for under counter wine refrigerators. Only 36% of designers used them, compared to 50% a year ago.
5. LED Lighting: Because of its negative effects on the earth incandescent lighting continues its fall in popularity as homeowners look for more energy-efficient solutions. In a year’s time the use of incandescent lighting fell from 50% to 35%. LED lighting, on the other hand has risen from 47% to 54%.
